Go Fug Yourself

Skinny girl....aka founder of the skinny website came close to losing her long-held title of being my favourite blogger. After coming across the super critical site 'Go Fug Yourself' it became clear that even skinnygirl isn't as concerned with the activities of celebrities than the founder of this site.
With the most recent titles being 'Fugtown girl' and 'Fug Stone', celebrities are rinsed and mocked for the outfits they wear, expressions they pull, or basically every little thing thats wrong with them. The reason for this? Is the author of such blogs merely amusing herself and others with these people's faults? Or is she insecure about her own looks and life? So insecure that she feels better about herself by pointing other's imperfections? The style of the writing is light-hearted, funny, yet incredibly blunt; in my opinion it seems that this is merely for a laugh, not for more serisous, personal reasons.
The question of whether this is real journalism....is a very simple one. This is not real news, or at least, I don't personally see this as real news: What people are wearing, or new pictures of someone looking fat is not serisously going to affect anyone's lives like real news does.
The recurring theme on this website- imperfections and mocking them, raises the point that girls, women and especially teenagers are obsessed with looking perfect, and we wonder where this image of perfection and this need comes from? Look no further, websites mocking even the most beautiful people in the world and their faults isn't the most sensible thing to show an insecure teenage girl......
